Have you ever noticed that successful women always seem to have a clear vision of what they want to achieve? It’s like their minds are equipped with a built-in GPS, guiding them toward their goals.
But how do we attain this clarity? How do we climb the ladder of success with a clear purpose in mind? One way is by knowing our “why”—understanding the deep-rooted reasons behind our desires and ambitions. When we have a clear understanding of why we want something, it becomes easier to stay focused and motivated.
Defining success is another crucial aspect. Success means different things to different people. It could be financial prosperity, personal fulfillment or making a positive impact on others’ lives. One of my favorite quotes by Thomas Merton is:
People may spend their whole lives climbing the ladder of success only to find, once they reach the top, that the ladder is leaning against the wrong wall.
Take some time to reflect on what success means to you personally.

Here are three strategies to get you started on clarifying your goals for your future:
- Journaling – Take time in the morning to write down your thoughts. Many call this “morning pages” and it can be a way to clear the mental chatter and boost your focus and clarity.
- Identifying and eliminating major stressors in your life – What is causing you the most stress and distraction in your life? Find a way to eliminate it, or if unable to, see if you can take a break from it to clarify your thoughts and realize the goals that are important to you.
- Decluttering your space – This has helped me tremendously! A mindset shift can come simply from re-organizing and decluttering your physical space, which can then help you focus on what’s truly important.
You must first know WHY you’re doing what you’re doing and WHAT you’re reaching for so try these strategies to take steps in the right direction and you’ll also find others can easily get on board with you as well.
