Business

Your NAWBO Communications team is a group of seven professionals who strive every day to ensure NAWBO members have the very best communications of any women’s organization on the planet. Our copy writers and editors, creative designers, print experts and web specialists are eager for you to know about every NAWBO event, resource, sponsor, media partner, business advantage, conference update, contest, advocacy push, historical milestone and much more. We spend our hours creating website content, e-blasts, animation, creative branding, e-newsletters, social media posts and an overall strategy that ties everything together. It’s a boatload of responsibility to always ensure our members are up to date on everything that’s anything…but we wouldn’t have it any other way. “Every day we try to imagine each of our NAWBO audiences—members, chapter leaders, sponsors, media partners and other stakeholders—opening our communications with interest and delight,” says Communications team member Ruth Drizen-Dohs. “It keeps us on our toes and requires us to create unique approaches that impact different sensibilities.”

Lifestyle

Our team’s hobbies vary from snow skiing, shopping and softball to spiritual retreats, kayaking and waterskiing. Our kids range from soon-to-be newborns to 23-year-old college graduates and lots of ages in between. Those crazy kids—plus our valued friends and family—keep us busy, for sure. “We’re a family as a NAWBO team and we have a separate family away from the office,” says our Communications team member Christina Jorgensen. “We care about both of those families deeply.”

Community

There’s a great feeling about helping other women business owners succeed, and all of us on the NAWBO Communications team think that’s a feeling we’d like to hold close. As we help get the word out there about NAWBO, we’re eager to see new members and new chapter leaders realize their potential and mentor other women to be the best they can be. “We feel like when we do our jobs well, we can really impact other women to do theirs well, too,” says Communications team member Lauren Armstrong. “It’s a real win-win for our team and for our audiences.” Additionally, some of the organizations and causes close to our hearts that our team members support through volunteering and financial contributions are the American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, MS Society, Operation Smile, American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and of course, education, including all our kids’ schools.
