Michelle Word

Michelle retired in April 2022 as director of Business Diversity & Development for Burns & McDonnell. She developed the company’s procedures and policies that support diverse business inclusion and was responsible for ensuring the company engages, utilizes and, as appropriate, assists in the growth of diverse firms. Michelle also worked externally to educate prospective suppliers and subcontractors about business diversity objectives and teaming opportunities. During her tenure, Burns & McDonnell received numerous business diversity awards. In 2019, Michelle was inducted into the company’s Hall of Fame as the recipient of one of the highest honors the company bestows. Michelle serves on numerous boards and is actively involved with several organizations and initiatives focused on equity and the continued advancement of diverse business concerns.
