Janet South
Janet is president of DECO Group, an industrial/commercial paint contractor. DECO Group specializes in high performance coatings. Primary market served is municipal water/wastewater plants, mechanical, tanks. DECO Group works primarily in Indiana. Janet oversees company operations and research & development for engineering asset protection. Janet’s training as a registered nurse is utilized in the company safety program. Janet directs project proposal preparation and project coordination.
Janet is active in construction industry organizations. DECO Group is represented by Laura, Executive Director of Business. Indiana Subcontractors Association has appointed Laura, the youngest female sitting Executive Board Chair Elect. Janet mentors young women to succeed and excel in the construction industry. Janet serves on the Indiana Subcontractors Association Industry Advancement Committee. Purdue Supplier Diversity Advisory Board is another position in which Janet has promoted opportunities for women. Janet’s participation in the Indiana Construction Roundtable Mentor Protégé Program grows women business in the construction industry.
Janet has been an active member of NAWBO-Indy since she joined in 2007 and was appointed to serve on the Board of Directors in 2008 and has served in Membership, Public Policy, and Corporate Partners. Janet chaired NAWBO Indy 2011 Visionary Women Awards Annual Luncheon; Member of the National Nominating Committee 2012; joined Presidents Assembly Steering Committee 2012. Janet was also honored with Starkey Entrepreneurial Woman Award 2011. In addition, Janet supported Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom wounded soldiers and their family members in Washington DC and San Antonio Texas from 2004-2011 as a board member of Veterans of Valor.
Janet lives in Greenwood, Indiana with her husband of 40 years, Kirby. They have 3 adult children, 2 grandchildren, and 8 grand dogs. Janet is the passenger on their Harley Davidson motorcycles. One is named Therapy and the other is The Hulk…yes, it is green. Janet and Kirby love to pack for motorcycle trips and experience adventure: no interstate and no map.
