Join NAWBO members and guests (all are welcome to attend!) for an impromptu Happy Hour Networking Event to honor and celebrate Women’s Entrepreneurship Day, which dates back to 1739.

Since November 19, 2014, New York City and Los Angeles have declared it an official day, the U.S. House of Representatives has recognized it, and the United Nations celebrated it. Now, it’s the San Francisco Bay Area’s turn to start a new annual celebration.

Date: Tuesday, 19 November

Time: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Location: The Trident, 558 Bridgeway, Sausalito CA (with stunning views of San Francisco)

Parking: On-street and paid parking are available, plus easy access to Sausalito Ferry and Marin Transit buses.

Admission: $17.39* (to commemorate the first recorded woman entrepreneur) for all members, affiliates, and guests…

History/Background:

Women have been involved in entrepreneurial ventures for centuries, but they were not considered entrepreneurs because the term was exclusive to men. During the 18th and 19th centuries, most women-owned businesses were from inheritance or supplemented personal income.

*Eliza Lucas Pinckney of South Carolina was one woman who became a business leader through inheritance in 1739. Women’s Entrepreneurship Day is observed every November 19 to honor female entrepreneurs and their contributions to the entrepreneurial community. It was first organized by the WEDO (Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Organization) and is recognized by the United Nations and over 120 countries. On Women’s Entrepreneurship Day, pioneering women in various fields are given the WEDO Pioneer Awards.
