Panelists:
Tess Albanese, Co-President of Albanese Confectionery Group
Tess Albanese is the Co-president of Albanese Confectionery Group, a title she shares with her sisters, Bethany and Dominique, because three heads are better than one. Tess started at ACG in 2010, doing accounts receivables—a job that involved wrangling numbers like they were unruly toddlers. Her natural curiosity and knack for problem-solving quickly led her to bigger roles. In 2018, Tess and her sisters took over the family business from their dad and founder, Scott Albanese. Since then, they’ve more than doubled the company’s revenue and expanded their manufacturing footprint in Merrillville, Indiana to over a million square feet—because who doesn’t need that much space for candy? Before her business takeover, Tess spent a solid decade saving lives as a Registered Nurse in trauma centers across the country, proving she’s no stranger to handling chaos—human or otherwise. Now, she juggles leading Albanese Confectionery Group with being a mom of four kids, her husband Joshua, and a cat named Lucy. In her free time (what’s that?), Tess is either lost in a book, planning her next big adventure, or spamming her friends’ inboxes with the most relatable reels—because why stop at saving lives when you can also save everyone’s mood with memes?
Mylese Tucker, Owner of Nature’s Cupboard
Mylese Tucker is the second-generation owner of Nature’s Cupboard, a natural food store with two locations in Michigan City and Chesterton. With over 30 years of experience running the family business her mother LaVora started in 1980, she is passionate about providing her community with healthy, organic options. For the past nine years, she has also served on the board of the Independent Natural Foods Association, where she collaborates with other independent store owners to address the challenges of online sales competition and increasing operational costs, working to keep brick-and-mortar businesses thriving. Mylese’s deep commitment to community wellness remains at the core of her mission. As the mother of three children—Anna, Lyle and Blaine—Mylese is thrilled that her daughter, Anna, is poised to take over the business as the third-generation owner. While business is important, family is her top priority. She enjoys working alongside her husband, Bruce, in other entrepreneurial ventures.
