NAWBO Statement on Debt Ceiling

May 2, 2023 | Advocacy, Uncategorized

“The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) urges Congress and the Administration to move expeditiously to raise the debt ceiling to prevent the U.S. from defaulting on its debts and causing deep hardship for America’s women-owned businesses. The debt ceiling should not be a partisan issue given the detrimental effects a default and government shutdown would have for all Americans, especially for women business owners. Women disproportionately shouldered the burden of the pandemic. Many are still recovering from pandemic losses, and we fear a default and the consequences thereafter would undo any progress made in the last two years,” stated Lisa Coppola, Chair-Elect of NAWBO National and NAWBO National Advocacy Commitee Co-Chair.
