(Washington, D.C. May 11, 2017)—The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) is expanding its international reach through partnerships and participation in global events, like the 2017 Global Summit of Women, which will take place May 11-13 in Tokyo, Japan. NAWBO National Board Chair, Teresa Meares, will participate in a breakout session discussing the ways women can learn from business setbacks at the 2017 Global Summit of Women.
“The opportunity to be an entrepreneur is a game changer for so many women in our country and around the world,” said Teresa Meares, NAWBO National Board Chair. “Empowering women with the skills and tools they need to start and grow their businesses as well as how to utilize business setbacks for the long-term good of their business has the potential to change communities and countries for the better. I’ve witnessed this first-hand during my tenure as NAWBO National Board Chair as well as in my own family where my daughter launched her own business within the last year.”
In March, Meares and NAWBO CEO Jen Earle participated in the FCEM World Committee Meeting in Monaco. In April, NAWBO National participated in the W20 communique for financial inclusion. Throughout the remainder of 2017, NAWBO will also have a presence at the FCEM World Meeting in Rome and sponsor an Insight Trip to Nicaragua for NAWBO members through a partnership with Opportunity International as well as attend the Institute for the Economic Empowerment of Women (IEEW) Leadership Development Summit and Graduation in July in Irving, Texas.
“NAWBO is proud to partner with so many organizations around the globe who share our mission to create leaders and increase the number of women we see in leadership roles in the government and the business communities,” continued Meares. “We are proud to expand our international footprint and will continue to look for opportunities where we can share our experience for the betterment of other women business owners. We know that when women business owners do well, the overall economic climate improves.”
