Washington, D.C. —The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) is announcing its endorsement of U.S. Representative Don Beyer in his bid for re-election in Virginia’s 8th District.

“Congressman Beyer’s choice to co-sponsor the Gender in Corporate Leadership Act which encourages board diversity as well as the Women’s Small Business Ownership Act which supports the public and private sector working together on behalf of women business owners are just two examples of his unwavering efforts on behalf of women nationwide,” explains Molly Gimmel, NAWBO National Board Chair. “He is an ardent advocate for women and his constant work to achieve gender parity and support women’s economic empowerment falls directly in line with NAWBO National’s mission. Speaking personally, as someone who lives in his District, I have seen firsthand his steadfast support for women and small business owners.”

“One of my primary goals since I first ran for Congress has been to promote the economic empowerment of women.  An endorsement from NAWBO, which helps so many women small business owners, means a great deal and I am honored to receive it,” says Congressman Beyer.

NAWBO National considers candidates for endorsement after they have won their primary. The selection of candidates is based solely on their history of business ownership or their voting record demonstrating their consistent support of business owners. Additional endorsements will be made by NAWBO prior to the November 6thgeneral election.
