(Washington, D.C. August 24, 2016)—The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) is announcing its endorsement of U.S. Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez in her bid for the open U.S. Senate seat in California.
NAWBO National screens candidates for endorsement solely on their history of business ownership or their voting record demonstrating their consistent support of business owners.
“When NAWBO was founded 41 years ago, there were no other business advocacy groups for women entrepreneurs and so the founders of NAWBO created their own. Decades later, we are proud to advocate on behalf of all women business owners and support others who do the same,” said Teresa Meares, NAWBO National Board Chair. “As a representative of one of the most vibrant small business districts in the United States, Congresswoman Sanchez knows first-hand the vital role small business owners and women entrepreneurs play in our economy. She has proven to be a tireless advocate for both. We are pleased to endorse her bid for U.S. Senate.”
“I am incredibly proud to have the endorsement of NAWBO which is dedicated to ensuring women business owner have equal opportunities to success,” stated Congresswoman Sanchez. “For 20 years in Congress, I have supported policies that expand investments and encourage entrepreneurship. Small businesses are the heart and engine of our economy and women business owners are making our economy and nation stronger. As a United States Senator, I will continue to fight for small business loans and against the tax increases that hamper economic growth.”
Additional endorsements will be made by NAWBO prior to the November 8 general election. In 2014, 94% of the candidates NAWBO National endorsed were elected.
