(Washington, D.C. September 7, 2016)—The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) is announcing its endorsement of Denise Gitsham in her bid for election to Congress from California’s 52nd District.

NAWBO National screens candidates for endorsement solely on their history of business ownership or their voting record demonstrating their consistent support of business owners.

“NAWBO is proud to be the only dues based organization representing all women business owners in the U.S.  Our diverse membership is a source of strength for our organization and the advocacy efforts that our founders began 41 years ago,” said Teresa Meares, NAWBO National Board Chair.  “As a small business owner herself, Denise is aware of the issues and impediments facing small business owners across the country as well as the contributions they make to our economy.  We are pleased to announce Denise Gitsham as a NAWBO endorsed candidate for 2016 and look forward to working with her on behalf of our members and all women business owners.”

Additional endorsements will be made by NAWBO prior to the November 8 general election.  In 2014, 94% of the candidates NAWBO National endorsed were elected.

“I am thrilled to have the support of NAWBO, a strong organization helping female business owners across America,” said Gitsham. “Our campaign’s momentum is growing daily because voters know Washington needs fewer ineffective members and more practical, bipartisan problem solvers to help get the country back on track.”

The annual Women’s Business Conference sponsored by NAWBO will take place September 18-20 in Columbus, OH.

Founded in 1975, the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) is the unified voice of America’s more than 9.1 million women-owned businesses representing the fastest growing segment of the economy. NAWBO is the only dues-based organization representing the interests of all women entrepreneurs across all industries.   NAWBO develops programs that help navigate women entrepreneurs thought the various stages of their business growth.
