NAWBO Institute for Entrepreneurial Development Installs Kelly Scanlon as 2022-2023 Board Chair

The NAWBO Institute Board of Directors were installed on June 6, 2022, in Washington, D.C.

Washington, D.C. (June 6, 2022)—The National Association of Women Business Owners Institute for Entrepreneurial Development (NAWBO Institute) has appointed Kelly Scanlon,  President and CEO of Interrobang Solutions LLC, as Chair of the 2022-2023 Board of Directors. The NAWBO Institute was formed out of the ever-present need to educate women on how to scale their businesses and strengthen their wealth-creating capacity. Today, the efforts continue and have expanded as a place for business owners to share concerns and provide support for one another on a virtual platform.

 

“We must continue to serve our women business owners as they overcome adversity in the wake of these unprecedented times,” said Kelly Scanlon, NAWBO Institute Board Chair. “I am proud to help guide and educate these women as they scale their businesses and strengthen their wealth-creating capacity. We will fulfill this mission with this talented and diverse group of servant leaders on the NAWBO Institute Board.”

 

Scanlon is a business owner, publisher, podcast host, and lifelong small business and entrepreneur advocate. She currently owns Interrobang Solutions, a company that provides writing, editing and other professional publishing services for companies. She also hosts the “Talking Business Now” podcast.

For more than 20 years, Kelly owned Thinking Bigger Business Media, which produced a variety of publications, products and events connecting business owners with practical strategies and resources for growing their business. She sold Thinking Bigger in March 2018.

Kelly serves on several boards that advocate and assist small businesses. She’s been actively involved in the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) for 20+ years, serving in various leadership roles in the Kansas City chapter and on the national 501(c)6 board of directors from 2008-2012 (board chair in 2010).

Her past service has included co-chair of the Women’s Foundation (now United WE) patron committee and fundraising committee for the Women’s Employment Network. She’s also been a board member for: Country Club Bank’s advisory board, Kansas State Johnson County Extension, UMKC Bloch School of Business advisory board, NE Johnson County Chamber of Commerce, the former Missouri Women’s Business Center, and Rockhurst University SBDC.

Kelly has received numerous awards for her small business advocacy and journalism, including the United Nations NGO Positive Peace Award on behalf of Kansas City area small business owners.

A wine enthusiast, Kelly holds a WSET Level 2 certification in wines.

 

The 2022-2023 NAWBO Institute Board of Directors includes Kelly Scanlon — Chair, Kathleen Warnick — Immediate Past Chair, Crystal Arredondo — Treasurer, and Teresa Meares, Jeanette Armbrust, Michelle Word, Shauna Huntington, and Karen Bennetts – Ex Officio.

The National Association of Women Business Owners Institute for Entrepreneurial Development Board of Directors was installed in Washington, D.C, on June 6, 2022.
