Cristina Morales-Heaney appointed as NAWBO National Board Chair

NAWBO has appointed Cristina Morales Heaney of U.S. Safety Services as Chair to the 2020-2021 Board of Directors. The NAWBO National Board represents the millions of women business owners across the nation working to rebuild their businesses in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis. Each board member brings a unique skill set to the table to help women business owners overcome adversity and prosper by advocating for policies to keep a vibrant national economy.

“Now more than ever, women business owners need to come together and face our challenges head on,” says Cristina. “I am honored to represent these strong and courageous women as we embark on a journey to rebuild an even brighter future for the next generation of women business owners. We began as an advocacy organization, and I am proud to continue our legacy of advocating for women business in our 45th year.”

Cristina brought more than 10 years of experience in the corporate and nonprofit development fields to her role as U.S. Safety Services’ CEO. In 2005, she rebranded the company and has since shaped it into a leading provider of temporary medical staffing throughout Central and South Texas. Under Cristina’s leadership, U.S. Safety Services has become the provider for the largest sports and entertainment center in San Antonio and provides temporary medical staffing for the majority of community sports, entertainment and conference facilities in the San Antonio area. Cristina completed a Master of Business Administration program during her corporate years, then decided to become a certified Emergency Medical Technician during the first few months of starting her business. Cristina also serves on the Texas Leadership Council for the National Federation of Independent Business and is a former president of NAWBO-San Antonio.

The 2020-2021 NAWBO Board of Directors includes Cristina Morales Heaney – Chair; Jeanette Armbrust – Past Chair; Susan Dawson – Chair-Elect; Karen Bennetts –Secretary/Treasurer; Tanya R. Hill;  Lisa Coppola; Lesa Seibert; Jacqueline Hayes; and Megan Patton.

Columbus business owner Kathleen Warnick appointed as NAWBO Institute Board Chair

Meanwhile, the NAWBO Institute has appointed Kathleen Warnick, President of Warnick Consultants, LLC, an accounting and bookkeeping consulting company, as Chair of the 2020-2021 Board of Directors. The NAWBO Institute has been a life-line for women business owners during the COVID-19 crisis as a portal of information as well as a place for businesses to share concerns and provide support during these challenging times.  

“We formed the NAWBO Institute out of the ever-present need to educate women on how to scale their businesses and strengthen their wealth-creating capacity," says Kathleen. “Now, more than ever, we need to serve our women business owners as they must overcome adversity in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. We are proud to help guide these women as they rebuild their businesses and, in some cases, re-open their doors to their community.”

As a seasoned business owner, organizational leader and expert in her industry, Kathleen has over two decades of insight and understanding of the unique needs of small businesses. From service providers to retail and construction companies to corporations, Kathleen and her team have provided services to hundreds of clients. She has used her expansive knowledge to set up internal systems and processes to help her clients grow their revenues and profits, as well as to provide education to help them understand where and how their business is changing.

Through her previous positions as President of the NAWBO-Columbus chapter and Chair of the NAWBO National Board, her contributions on other boards and in her current role as Chair for the NAWBO Institute Board, Kathleen continues to share and contribute her expertise and passion to current and future female entrepreneurs nationally and globally.

The 2020-2021 NAWBO Institute Board represents a diverse set of business owners from across the country. The 2020-2021 NAWBO Institute Board of Directors will include Kathleen Warnick – Chair; Laura Yamanaka – Immediate Past Chair; Kelly Scanlon – Chair-Elect, Crystal Arredondo – Treasurer; Teresa Meares; Suzanne Pease; and Cristina Morales Heaney – Ex Officio.

The new National and Institute boards were installed on Friday, June 19th during the virtual NAWBO 45th Birthday Celebration.
