NAWBO® Installs 2014-2015 Board of Directors

NAWBO National Board Will Continue Efforts to Encourage and Expand Economic Opportunities for Women Entrepreneurs

(Washington, D.C., July 10, 2014) The National Association of Women Business Owners® (NAWBO) is proud to announce its 2014-2015 Board of Directors. The board is comprised of a dynamic and diverse group of women who will continue the efforts of NAWBO to propel women entrepreneurs into economic, social and political spheres of power worldwide.

“Since 1975, NAWBO® has been strengthening the wealth-creating capacity of our members and promoting economic development within the entrepreneurial community and our efforts have paid off,” said Billie Dragoo, NAWBO National Board Chair. “We know that women entrepreneurs are a major contributor to this nation’s economy, accounting for 8.6 million businesses across the country, employing over 7.8 million people and generating $1.3 trillion in sales as of 2013. It is my pleasure to welcome the new and returning women business owners to our 2014-2015 Board of Directors, who I know will move our organization and women business owners forward to create an even more profound impact on job creation and the economy in their communities and nationwide.”

The 2014-2015 NAWBO Board of Directors will be comprised of: Darla Beggs – Chair; Billie Dragoo – Past Chair; Crystal Arredondo (re-elected); Teresa Meares (re-elected); Kathy Warnick; Loreen Gilbert; Molly Gimmel; Jennah Purk (newly elected); and Nancy Chorpenning – President’s Assembly Chair.

“NAWBO has a longstanding history of advocating on behalf of women entrepreneurs, and I am confident the remarkable group of women who comprise of 2014-2015 National Board will continue that tradition and take it to new levels,” stated incoming NAWBO® National Chair Darla Beggs, president and CEO of Abba Staffing and Consulting. “When more women are in business, our country does better. I look forward to working with this incredibly talented group of women to ensure that we can deepen the power and influence of NAWBO for the benefit of NAWBO members, women entrepreneurs across the nation and our country as a whole.”

The new Board will be formally introduced to the business community at the NAWBO® Women’s Business Conference, held September 8-9 in Indianapolis.
