NAWBO Comments on Recent Court Decision Related to Supporting Women Entrepreneurs of Color

Washington, D.C. —Following National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Days in Washington, D.C., NAWBO released a statement expressing their profound disappointment with the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals’ suspension of Fearless Fund’s Strivers Grant contest.

“As an organization dedicated to propelling women business owners into spheres of power worldwide, NAWBO is constantly working to ensure equity for all women business owners because we know lifting disadvantaged sectors of our economy leads to an expansion of our economy as a whole,” said NAWBO Board Chair Dr. Janis Shinkawa. “We are pleased that another court dismissed the frivolous lawsuit against Hello Alice, but this stands in stark contrast to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals’ suspension of Fearless Fund’s Strivers Grant contest. When women do well, economies do well, and we cannot ignore these actions to stifle growth and opportunity for these sectors of our economy.”

Last week, during NAWBO Days, more than 200 women walked the halls of Congress to discuss the needs of the nation’s women business owners. NAWBO continues its nearly 50-year commitment to ensuring women have equal opportunity to grow and scale their businesses.
