NAWBO Commends Release of House Bipartisan Paid Leave Working Group Legislative Text
Washington, D.C. — Today, the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) issued a statement in response to the House Bipartisan Paid Leave Working Group’s release of two legislative concepts as discussion drafts for a national paid family leave policy. In May 2023, NAWBO participated in a business leader roundtable with the House Working Group to jumpstart the conversation about paid family leave in Congress.
“For years, our nation’s women business owners have advocated for Congress to craft policies that give small businesses an option to access a paid family medical leave system that works financially for themselves and their workforce,” said NAWBO CEO Jen Earle. “Today, we are so pleased to see the collaborative efforts of the bipartisan House Paid Leave Working Group in introducing two discussion drafts that build on their legislative framework on paid leave.”
“We congratulate these lawmakers on putting together these discussion drafts that work for our business owners. These drafts not only incentivize states to stand up their own paid family leave programs but also create a process that will coordinate and harmonize these benefits across the growing number of states with their own paid leave programs,” Earle continued. “We need a system that works for business owners across state lines, and we look forward to delving into the details of the discussion drafts and helping the working group move these critical policies across the finish line.”
