NAWBO Commends House Small Business Committee Markup of WOSB Accountability Act

Washington, D.C. — The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) commends the House’s bipartisan work on the WOSB Accountability Act introduced by Ranking Member Nydia Velázquez (D-NY) and cosponsored by Representative Nick LaLota (R-NY) ), which passed the House Small Business Committee earlier today.

“We are pleased to see lawmakers working across the aisle on behalf of women business owners,” said NAWBO Advocacy Chair Megan Patton. “The WOSB goals are critical for ensuring that federal contracting opportunities remain accessible to women-owned businesses. Maintaining strong bipartisan support for these goals is essential—not just for fairness but for the strength of our economy. Investing in women entrepreneurs drives innovation, creates jobs, and fuels sustainable growth for communities nationwide.”

While women business owners contribute significantly to the U.S. economy, adding $3.3 trillion in 2024, closing the revenue gap between women- and men-owned businesses could generate an additional $10.2 trillion in economic activity.
