This Women’s History Month reminds us of how far we’ve come and how much more we can accomplish as we network, share resources and support one another. You’ll read about what thought leaders are saying and how women around the world are celebrating in this month’s Focus.
We are also reminded that as part of NAWBO®, we have helped to shape women’s history. Since 1975, NAWBO® has testified before congressional committees and participated in small business task forces, groups and conferences. We also played a leading role in HR 5050, the Women’s Business Ownership Act; we have seen several of our past National presidents inducted into the Women’s Hall of Fame; and we have led international business trade missions, among many other things.
For a timeline of NAWBO®’s key accomplishments, visit http://www.nawbo.org/content_457.cfm.
Still, there’s more history to be written and NAWBO® is leading the way through advocacy efforts and high-level opportunities for women entrepreneurs to connect and grow their businesses. If you haven’t already, consider applying to participate in one of these opportunities: the Accelerated Growth Series® offered by the NAWBO® Institute for Entrepreneurial Development at www.nawbo.org/section_294.cfm. The deadline is this Friday, March 25th. The capacity-building program offers exceptional tools and knowledge that you can apply immediately to your business.
How are you celebrating women’s history month? What would you like to see happen next for women business owners? What are you doing to help make this happen? As always, I welcome your thoughts and comments!
