(Washington, D.C. October 16, 2017)—The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) is pleased to announce their annual Women’s Business Conference (WBC) will serve as a stop in the U.S. Government’s Road to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES).

“NAWBO was founded in 1975 to be the first advocacy organization for all women business owners.  We are always open to new partnerships that allow us to expand our reach, share what we know and advocate on behalf of women business owners,” said Kathy Warnick, NAWBO National Board Chair.  We are honored to have our WBC included as a stop on the Road to  GES and look forward to working with them to advance efforts for the betterment of women entrepreneurs.”

The NAWBO WBC will take place in Minneapolis October 16-17, 2017.  The event will bring together several hundred women business owners from around the world and will feature remarks from U.S State Department officials as well as a NAWBO member selected to travel to the GES in India in November.

The eighth annual GES will be held in Hyderabad, India on November 28-30, 2017. This year’s Summit will highlight the theme Women First, Prosperity for All, and will focus on supporting women entrepreneurs and fostering economic growth globally. Ivanka Trump, Advisor to President Trump  will headline the United States delegation to the Summit. In the lead-up to the Summit, the Road to GES series creates opportunities for discussion, investment and collaboration in cities across the United States, India and around the world. These partnerships accelerate job creation, private-sector connection and innovation in markets and communities.

The collaboration with the U.S. Global Entrepreneurship Initiative is one of several internationally focused initiatives in both the public and private sectors over the last several years. These efforts are sponsored through both NAWBO’s C6 arm, NAWBO National and C3 entity, the Institute for Entrepreneurial Development, the latter of which is aimed at helping women entrepreneurs in the “missing middle” reach the $1M in annual revenue mark.  NAWBO has also engaged in international partnerships and events with Femmes Chefs d’Entreprises Mondiales (FCEM), the Institute for Economic Empowerment of Women (IEEW), the International Council on Small Business (ICSB) and the Global Summit of Women.

“At NAWBO we understand the significant opportunities entrepreneurism can afford women both here in the U.S. and around the globe,” said Teresa Meares, NAWBO Institute for Entrepreneurial Development Board Chair. “But we are also aware of the obstacles and impediments that can keep women from the education, capital and other resources they need to start and scale their businesses.”
