Get Philanthropic With the Institute This #GivingTuesday

The NAWBO Institute has joined with #GivingTuesday, a global initiative to engage individuals, companies and communities in promoting a worldwide day of philanthropy. Giving Tuesday—November 29th, the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving—started small just five years ago but has since gained international momentum, raising more than $116 million last year in 71 countries while engaging individuals with 1.5 billion media impressions.

Giving Tuesday is a new way to inspire people and engage them in philanthropy. Last year, business leader Bill Gates took up the challenge to engage through Giving Tuesday—his effort alone resulted in 18 million media impressions. Google joined the Giving Tuesday movement last year by promoting a link on their Google page to showcase special education. Google also pledged $500,000 to match the gifts made on Giving Tuesday. The result was more than 25 million impressions and $1 million raised to support the initiative.

Giving Tuesday creates a unique mobile experience—80 percent of all social media time takes place on a mobile device—and the NAWBO Institute will be rolling out an exclusive mobile campaign to help you engage further with the Institute. Giving Tuesday is changing the way we identify philanthropy and the NAWBO Institute is proud to launch our Giving Tuesday initiative this year!

At this year’s Women’s Business Conference, NAWBO unveiled our new virtual campus, The NAWBO Institute, featuring advanced curriculum, special internationally respected speakers, a comprehensive library and much more, all with one goal in mind—to assist you in building your business, building your dream, to that which you envisioned at its inception. Hundreds of the attendees at the National Women’s Business Conference (WBC) hosted by NAWBO in September took the NAWBO Institute “test drive” and learned firsthand how this amazing tool will change their lives. You, too, can take your personal test drive at http://vshow.on24.com/vshow/NAWBOVE?l=en#home.

At the WBC, 100 of your fellow NAWBO members were passionately inspired by the NAWBO Institute and saw the vision of how our virtual campus will help our members to realize their dreams. The enthusiasm was so great that we shattered every expectation we had—$37,000 was pledged to the program and hundreds were so engaged that they provided introspective observations that will assist us to tailor the virtual campus for your individual needs. The unveiling was a complete success!

The NAWBO Institute foundation has been laid with the generous support of your leadership, but we need your help. Between now and Giving Tuesday—November 29th—we will be sending you valuable information about your NAWBO Institute. We ask that like your friends at the WBC, you test drive the virtual campus and engage with this unique tool.

As an incentive, Teresa Meares, Chair of the NAWBO Institute of Entrepreneurial Development, has committed to a $5,000 gift to fund the NAWBO Institute. Furthermore, Teresa has engaged four other NAWBO members to pledge an additional $20,000. This $25,000 pledge will be used as a match gift for every dollar we contribute on Giving Tuesday. These leaders have set the pace with the match pledge of $25,000!

Test drive the NAWBO Institute and watch for upcoming media engagements showcasing Giving Tuesday to see how the NAWBO Institute will assist you in making your business dreams come true.
