Emily Wirowek Helps Families Navigate Tough Decisions

Dec 13, 2017 | Uncategorized

Facing difficult, highly sensitive issues, such as a death in a family, can seem overwhelming in every way. That’s where Emily Wirowek comes in. As an estate planning attorney at the Law Office of Emily A. Wirowek, she specializes in serving clients and families navigating the death or disability of a loved one. As a sought after attorney in California’s Bay Area and Central Valley, she takes a personal approach to helping her clients protect their families.

“Everyone deserves a thoughtful, customized plan that meets their individual needs and goes beyond the basics of a simple will. There is more to estate planning than the value of one’s bank account,” she writes.

Emily has also taken an active role with NAWBO as a past-president of the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter. She currently serves as a director on the NAWBO National Board.

This month, we chatted with Emily about her successful law firm and how she incorporates “doing good” into her business practices. Read on for our conversation!

What led you to become a business owner?

I became a business owner because I saw a need and I wanted to fill the gap. There are plenty of male-run businesses in my industry, managing business the way it’s always been done. I knew there was a different way and a better way for clients.

What inspired you to join NAWBO? How long have you been a member and what has kept you with the organization over the years?

I was brought to my first NAWBO meeting more than six years ago by a very wise businesswoman. She knew that women business owners need to be surrounded by a community of like-minded women and so she invited me to check out NAWBO. I was immediately hooked. I knew I had found my community of women. I stay because of the community and the support. I know we are creating a better future for the next generation of women to dream and be as successful as they want to be as business owners.

What are some special causes you are passionate about, or ways you like to give back to your community?

I am passionate about helping women and girls succeed. I hope that we have gender parity in all respects before I retire. I am working with many non-profits that are pushing toward that goal. I am also very passionate about our environment and ensuring that it continues to thrive for generations to come.

Why is it important to you to “do good” as a business owner?

I believe whether you are a business owner or not, one should be doing good. If we all are patient, kind and giving, our families and our communities will be better. Our economy will prosper when we are giving back with our time or our money. Small acts of kindness accumulate over time and hopefully the person who received the kindness will, in turn, share kindness with someone else.

What’s been your greatest business accomplishment of 2017?

My greatest business accomplishment of 2017 has been to successfully grow my team. I have been fortunate to support three women and their families by bringing them onto the Wirowek Law team.

What’s your top “New Year’s Resolution” for 2018?

I believe in setting goals at the end of each year. My goal for 2018 is to continue to grow the team and support more women and their families.

What is one thing most people don’t know about you?

Something most people do not know about me is that I love to read biographies.
