Acorn Publisher Among NAWBO – Ventura Winners

The National Association of Women Business Owners Ventura County Chapter recently announced the 2016 winners of its 17th annual Bravo Awards. Among the honorees is Acorn Newspapers associate publisher Lisa Rule. The awards will be presented at a gala luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fri., April 1 at the Serra Center in Camarillo. Early-bird luncheon tickets are available at www.nawbovc.org.

Following are the 10 outstanding Ventura County awardees.

Community Advocate of the Year: Lisa Rule, associate publisher, Acorn Newspapers in Agoura Hills.

Rule, along with her husband, Jim, publishes the five Acorn editions from Agoura to Camarillo, as well as Beyond the Acorn magazine. Under her leadership, The Acorn has become the area’s most respected go-to source for local news, events and information.

Rule has regularly supported schools and local organizations, including the Boys & Girls Clubs, YMCA, Casa Pacifica and Kiwanis.
