10 Steps to Better Business Visibility

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to successfully boosting business visibility, so it’s important to try different things to discover what works best for you. Maybe it’s search engine optimization or social media? Or perhaps it’s community engagement or even advocacy? Here are 10 steps to consider as you work to better yours:

  1. List your business on local search services like Google My Business. It’s free and a great way to manage your online presence with customers in your area.
  2. Participate in community events like parades and block parties—hand out promotional giveaways and themed merchandise.
  3. Make sure your branding (both in look and messaging) is consistent in everything you do. You want people to immediately recognize you when they see your logo or hear your slogan.
  4. Invest some in print marketing, focusing on zip codes closest to you. In this digital world, a print piece can stand out and feel really special.
  5. Socialize regularly on social media. Start by picking the platform or two that are most relevant to your customers.
  6. Consider targeted digital ads, whether on Facebook/Instagram or Google/LinkedIn. See if it makes sense for your industry and budget.
  7. Make sure your website is up to date, attractive and easy to navigate; then commit to adding fresh content like a monthly banner or blog.
  8. Stay active on review sites. Ask customers to submit reviews and respond to any reviews you receive. Share them on your website and social media, too.
  9. Think about how advocacy can give you a seat at the table—build relationships with legislative decision makers by attending their events and sharing your thoughts and pain points.
  10.   Remember that your employees are your greatest brand ambassadors. Consider what they are saying about your business to others and if you can do anything to increase their satisfaction.
