NAWBO Releases Statement on the More Paid Leave for More Americans Act
Washington, D.C. — The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) issued a statement in response to the introduction last week of the More Paid Leave for More Americans Act by the bipartisan House Paid Leave Working Group. The proposed legislation seeks to expand access to paid family leave through state-driven solutions that offer flexibility for women-owned businesses and support their ability to provide leave benefits to employees.
“For years, women business owners across the country have called on Congress to develop a paid family and medical leave system that is both accessible and financially sustainable for small businesses and their employees,” said NAWBO Advocacy Chair Megan Patton. “We are pleased to see the bipartisan House Paid Leave Working Group answer that call with the introduction of the More Paid Leave for More Americans Act.”
“We commend the Working Group for putting forward legislation that recognizes the realities faced by small businesses—supporting state innovation while also working toward greater coordination and consistency among the growing number of state-level paid leave programs,” Patton continued. “Women business owners need a system that works across state lines, and we look forward to reviewing the discussion draft and collaborating with the Working Group to help advance these important policies.”
