Dionne Gumbs | GenEQTY
Founder and CEO 

Dionne is a growth-centric visionary with deep domain expertise in financial services along with direct functional expertise and outstanding results in sales, product management, and strategy, and a passion for social impact. 

Dionne Gumbs is Founder and CEO, GenEQTY in Minneapolis, a company incorporated in 2018. GenEQTY is Dionne’s second venture. In 2013, she co-founded Wealthrive, a digital fintech startup focused on advancing women as investors. As CEO of GenEQTY, her entrepreneurial instincts and clarity of vision have positioned her to stand at the forefront of fast-moving financial innovations.

GenEQTY is a financial technology platform that makes financial management and banking simple, intuitive and accessible for more small businesses. As a full end-to-end fintech bank, GenEQTY helps businesses automate payments, manage payroll and expenses, borrow funds and manage overall business health. The company’s MVP, set to launch this summer. aggregates banking and accounting data to reveal a proprietary real-time health score, key financial ratios and tips to make it easier to manage your company at a glance. Anchored in equity, GenEQTY’s mission is to close the wealth gap by removing bias, confusion and complexity in finance so more businesses can succeed. There is a special emphasis on women- and minority-led businesses and entrepreneurs.

A recognized thought leader, her work has been highlighted in Wharton Magazine, The Business Journal, Bank Beat Magazine, George W. Bush’s Institute Journal of Ideas and The Catalyst Magazine.  She has conversed with audiences, including Yum Brands International and All In Together, a bipartisan non-profit organization which ensures women’s voices are fully represented in political and civic life. Dionne has also been featured on podcasts discussing leadership, inclusive finance, and equity and recently honored as one of the Twin Cities Notable Leaders in Finance.

Dionne serves as a member of the Advisory Board for Epiq Advisors, an asset management firm in Minneapolis, MN. She also actively serves on the Board of Social Venture Partners MN on the strategic planning and impact committees. As part of the University of Pennsylvania’s Track and Field Sports Board, she mentors student athletes and galvanizes alumni to also commit time and resources to the program. Dionne was nominated and selected to be a part of the Trustees Council of Penn Women, an international network of Penn Alumnae that support, foster, and promote the advancement of women and women’s issues within the University. Committed to economic equity, Dionne is as Executive in Residence at Lunar Startups, an accelerator focused on supporting Black, Indigenous, people of color (BIPOC), LGBTQ+, women, and non-binary entrepreneurs. She serves as a resource to mission-driven startups at Columbia University’s Tamer School for Social Enterprise and Finnovation Lab, a startup incubator. She is currently a member of the 2018 class of Presidential Leadership Scholars, a competitive executive leadership program created by Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush in partnership with the Presidential Centers of George W. Bush, William J. Clinton, George H.W. Bush, and Lyndon B. Johnson. Dionne earned her M.B.A. from Columbia University and her B.A. in Political Science and Economics from The University of Pennsylvania, where she was a Division I varsity athlete. She later obtained a post-bac degree in accounting from the Wharton School.
