With the knowledge and experience Brandy had acquired over these years in construction she took these attributes out on her own and started International Builders and Consultants, Inc. (IBC Inc.) in 2008. Brandy studied long and hard to pass her state exams and became a licensed certified general contractor (CGC) in the State of Florida. Soon after following her dream and owning her own business, the construction industry in Florida tanked. Picking up a few small projects the first year in Florida she could see that the economy in Florida was not going to get better so she packed her bags, once again, and headed to Missouri in 2009.
Each day Brandy would select a handful of contractors to visit and drop off literature about IBC. With $10,000 in the bank and a small loan IBC’s first break came in late 2009 when the company performed the interior finishes on the AIA Kansas City office with JE Dunn Construction. It wasn’t until 2011 that IBC became a “household name” in the construction industry when they completed the architectural woodwork through-out the Hollywood Casino Kansas Speedway. Since then IBC has completed various high profile projects such as Lego Land and Sea Life, Children’s Mercy Hospital and the Jackson County Truman Courthouse. IBC started as an interior finish construction company, but has become a General Contractor providing all services to their clients. Brandy accredits her success to her strong will to succeed and never taking no for an answer. If Brandy was to give advice to others wanting to follow their dreams she would say go for it! You never know until you try and never ever give up.
