NAWBO DFW Celebrates Women’s History Month with a Pitch Competition & Powerhouse Panel
NAWBO DFW’s March chapter meeting was one for the books! In honor of Women’s History Month, we came together to celebrate the bold, innovative, and unstoppable women shaping the future of business. The event featured an exciting pitch competition and an inspiring panel discussion, highlighting the resilience, leadership, and ambition of women entrepreneurs in our community.
Pitching for Success
Five incredible NAWBO DFW members took the stage, pitching their businesses for a chance to win a $1,500 prize sponsored by Wells Fargo. With passion and purpose, each competitor shared their vision, business model, and growth strategies, proving that women-owned businesses are a driving force in our economy.
Our esteemed panel of judges—NAWBO DFW Chapter President Kate Winsor, President-Elect KJ Johnson, and Maria Enriquez, a Small Business Banking Relationship Management Manager with Wells Fargo—had the tough job of selecting a winner. Every pitch was compelling, showcasing the determination and innovation that define our NAWBO community.
Breaking Barriers: A Conversation with Women Business Leaders
Following the pitch competition, we turned our focus to a powerhouse panel of women business owners who have shattered ceilings and navigated the challenges of entrepreneurship. NAWBO DFW Members Aliah Henry, Leslie Hassler, Wendy Kidd, and Victoria Stevenson shared stories from their journeys as women business owners. Moderated by KJ Johnson, the discussion covered:
-
The toughest part of being a woman business owner – From overcoming bias to juggling multiple roles, our panelists shared candid experiences.
-
Strategies for accessing capital – Securing funding is one of the biggest hurdles for women entrepreneurs. The panelists shared actionable insights on financing options, building investor relationships, and navigating funding challenges.
-
Lessons from their journeys – Every entrepreneur’s path is unique, and our panelists reflected on their biggest challenges, turning points, and game-changing decisions.
-
One piece of advice or inspiration – Each speaker left us with a powerful takeaway, reinforcing the strength, resilience, and brilliance of women in business.
Their stories were not just inspiring—they were a testament to the power of women supporting women, taking risks, and building legacies.
"Don’t make decisions on the business you have today, but the business you want tomorrow." - Former NAWBO DFW President Leslie Hassler
As we wrapped up the evening, one thing was clear: the women of NAWBO DFW are leading with confidence, breaking down barriers, and paving the way for future generations. Whether through pitching their businesses, sharing their wisdom, or cheering each other on, this event was a reminder that we are stronger together.
Thank you to all who attended, participated, and made this event possible. Here’s to celebrating, empowering, and elevating women in business—this month and every month!
