Jun 17, 2024

The atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation as members of the Dallas/Fort Worth Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) gathered for the 2024-25 Board of Directors induction luncheon. The event, which marked the beginning of a new chapter for the organization, was a celebration of leadership, commitment, and the vision for the future.

Outgoing president Tolu Akindunni expressed her heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the 2023-24 board for their dedication and hard work. She highlighted the accomplishments achieved under her leadership and the collaborative efforts that made those successes possible. Her words were a testament to the strength and resilience of the women who have driven the chapter forward.

Kathleen Hunt of Personalized Payroll Services led the induction ceremony, bringing a sense of tradition and formality to the event. The pinning ceremony, assisted by Desiree Early from Bank of America, was a poignant moment as the new directors received their symbols of office, signifying their commitment to the chapter’s mission.

Kate Winsor, the newly inducted president, accepted on behalf of the new board and took a few minutes to share her vision for the upcoming year. She spoke passionately about the chapter’s milestone 40th anniversary in 2025, which inspired this year’s theme, “Honoring Our Heritage, Shaping Our Future.” This theme is a tribute to the legacy of empowering women entrepreneurs over the past four decades while also focusing on future growth and opportunities for women in business.

Kate emphasized the importance of celebrating the chapter’s rich history and the pioneering women who laid the foundation for today’s successes. She also highlighted plans for innovative programming, increased engagement with policymakers at local, state, and national levels, and expanding support networks for members. Her vision promises to build on the strong heritage of NAWBO DFW, fostering an inclusive and thriving community for women business owners.

As the luncheon concluded, the room buzzed with renewed energy and optimism for the year ahead. The event was a fitting start to what promises to be a landmark year for NAWBO DFW, filled with celebrations, strategic initiatives, and unwavering support for women entrepreneurs.
