A Message From Our President

Sep 29, 2020

What’s Next?

I recently spent the day in the city and saw people enjoying the weather, eating at restaurants, and spending time with family and friends. It wasn’t a typical day where you would see the streets filled with people, and honestly, it just didn’t feel quite normal. I took comfort in seeing that there were signs of hope for the small businesses that had their doors opened, and I remain optimistic that these businesses will once again thrive.

Today, I ask you what signs of hope are you seeing in your community and in your business? Are you working on new ideas, pivoting into another direction, or taking this time to reflect if you should keep your doors open? While we may not know what the future holds in store, there is one thing we know for sure: When each of you ventured out and started your business, it took time, effort, planning and determination. You were courageous enough to believe in yourself, daring to take an idea and create a product or service that solved a problem for others.

At NAWBO, we also believe in you – so continue ahead! You may not have all the answers right now but you have the resources and the support of this entire organization. We rely on each other and we are stronger together, and just knowing this is enough to get through whatever comes next.

When the Board began planning for the 37th Annual Celebration of Achievement earlier in the year, we chose “Reimagining Possibilities” as our theme. Little did we know that the times we are currently facing would require us to reimagine any possibilities personally and professionally. We were intentional about choosing workshops that are very relevant in 2020 and beyond because it is our commitment to continue supporting you through this journey. Regardless of where you are in your business, our speakers will inspire, motivate, and excite you to keep moving forward. We will have workshops on no-fear negotiations, wellness, access to capital, new revenue streams, and much more. Our keynote speaker, Betsy Owens, a brand-builder and innovator with an extensive background in driving strategy for some of the world’s leading organizations, will share her story and provide practical advice on marketing and innovation.

Today, I invite you to join us on September 10th for what will be a purpose-driven event where Together we are Stronger!

See you there!
