Message From Our President September 2024

Sep 4, 2024

As the summer draws to a close and we head into the autumn, it’s time to get back to a more consistent schedule and planning for the yearend and into 2025. I love this time of year when, as Tom Hanks’ character, Joe, writes to Meg Ryan’s character, Kathleen, in the movie, You’ve Got Mail: “It makes me wanna buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address.” I share Tom Hanks’ enthusiasm from that movie for the autumnal season, as this time of year brings out my organizational and planning skills. Right now, I am busy planning out which of our team projects we will be able to finish by yearend and which need to be prioritized differently.

In efforts to collaborate toward shared goals within my team and with our clients and vendors, we spend time building relationships, vendor partnerships and community into every interaction. This is something that comes naturally at NAWBO. We collaborate to reach greater impact in leadership, advocacy and diversity. Our key partners at NAWBO Chicago support us to make our programming available to more women business owners. They represent some of the best and brightest companies in Chicago, including banking, financial management and insurance, business strategists and attorneys as our professional partners. We are grateful for our sponsors because their support allows us to advance our mission of helping women business owners rise to greater economic, social and political spheres of influence.

If you find that your pencil needs to be sharpened this fall to improve skills around collaboration, team building, and partnerships, then look to NAWBO and get involved. Women mean business and we can sharpen our skills together! Check out these upcoming events and opportunities:

  • Join NAWBO’s all-new Vision & Voice Retreat—October 3-6 in Paso Robles, California
  • Get involved in one of our committees. We would love to hear your voice within our DEI, Advocacy or Membership Committees
  • Attend the Small Business Owners Community upcoming conference in Milwaukee, WI on October 16-17 and save $50 on registration by using the code NAWBOMEMBER

Sincerely,

Angie Noll
President of NAWBO Chicago
