Message From Our President March 2025

Mar 4, 2025

Dear NAWBO Chicago,

Now more than ever before, I am so very grateful to be a member of NAWBO Chicago! Times are a-changin’ in Washington D.C., and these changes are making an impact on women business owners across this great nation. Wow, NAWBO is really making sure we have a seat at the advocacy table! NAWBO CEO Jen Earle and Board Chair Dr. Janis Shinkawa have been to our nation’s capital twice since the new executive orders rolled out from the Trump administration and they are on a trajectory to continuing to visit D.C. once per month. NAWBO National has stepped up our Advocacy strategy calls to a twice per month cadence and invites you to join the conversation. You can get all the details on NAWBO’s Advocacy strategy on monthly calls slated for the first Thursday of the month at 1:00 pm CT and the third Tuesday of the month at 11:00 am CT. Their next two meetings will be on March 6 and March 18. On a local level, NAWBO Chicago has partnered with several other community organizations to take collaborative action toward advocacy for women-owned small businesses in this geography. We are stronger together.

It is easy to forget that NAWBO Chicago is a nonprofit and our membership dues are doing some heavy lifting to help women business owners rise to greater economic, political and social spheres. Business networking and business exchange does happen at NAWBO – that is a natural occurrence when industrious entrepreneurs come together. However, the purpose of NAWBO Chicago is much greater. I am so very grateful that our local Advocacy Committee Co-Chairs, Stephanie Posey and Diana Leza Sheehan, are driving conversations. I am indebted to Jen Earle and Dr. Janis Shinkawa, who have a seat at the table and are working tightly with our nation’s new SBA Administrator, former Georgia Senator Kelly Loeffler.

Next time your membership comes up for renewal at NAWBO, please take a moment to consider what is happening with the funds you commit to that membership. You are one of 14 million mighty women business owners who are being represented and your membership helps support our entire community.

Sincerely,

Angie Noll
