Why did you join NAWBO Chicago and what has been your experience belonging to the organization?

I came to NAWBO in the 80s expecting an unsupportive and unfriendly organization. One of my partners thought it would be a good idea. I was amazed at the talents of the group as well as their mentoring and supportive nature. As I joined, and then led committees and was on the board, I was blessed with resources that I could turn to so that I could get answers and look good to my clients.

Why does the work of NAWBO Chicago matter?

I especially appreciated the introduction to political leadership so that we could advocate for small business issues. We put together so many advocacy seminars on key issues such as health care and tax issues with Chicago area and federal legislators. This is an area that sets NAWBO apart from other organizations and gives members the voice and skill to make the business landscape better.
