A Message From Our President: #NAWBOVoice

Jul 2, 2021

It’s June, which means summer is finally here!

I don’t know about you, but I’m happy to finally get to spend some time outside with my loved ones!

As I look ahead at the summer months, I think back to my theme for this NAWBO chapter: Stronger Together. I chose this as our theme because I strongly believe in the power of community, and I believe that if we do things together, we’ll always come out ahead.

NAWBO Chicago is one of the largest chapters in NAWBO, and we recently recruited close to 50 new members, making us the #1 chapter in the nation! This is extremely exciting news, but we accomplished this as a community. Our chapter continues to elevate each other and provide a meaningful space where we can all connect and build better relationships.

As we head into the latter half of 2021, we want to aim even higher.

A recent study found that more than 100,000 small businesses in the United States have permanently shut their doors as a result of COVID-19. NAWBO wants to do everything it can to change those numbers, so I want to encourage you to seek out a small business in your area that you think could benefit from becoming a NAWBO member. We are a sisterhood of women business owners, and our strength is in reaching out and propping up any others we can.

Our NAWBO Chicago community promises an engaging community that fosters connections, collaboration, advocacy, and inspiration for all! Together, we can make a huge difference for women business owners in our cities and change the tide of all small business owners across the state!

Stronger Together,

Elizabeth Colón
