Membership Spotlight – On The Money

Sep 6, 2022

Women business owners focus a lot of time and energy on investing in their companies, staff and clients to achieve goals and growth. Tell us about how you have invested in yourself. What are some personal investments (or commitments) you have made and what was the return?

Jessica Freiburg
Managing Partner, Sassetti LLC

In addition to focusing on my business and personal growth, this past year I invested in myself by putting my health at the forefront. I wanted a more consistent exercise routine so I joined a local running group.  Running has helped me find opportunities to have time to myself while doing solo runs, and to discover new teammates that want to support and encourage me no matter how far or fast I am able to run each day.

I started by running a 5K last summer, then a 10K this past fall and now will be running my first half marathon later this month. As a business owner, wife and mother of four young children, it can be hard to find time to invest in myself but by setting goals and having a running coach/team to hold me accountable to those goals, I have been able to achieve a new level of accomplishment and feel healthier and more fulfilled.

In an industry where there is no certification required to operate, those who choose to become certified – regardless of the requirements – obtain an upper hand. The world of event design is ever-changing: the trends, colors, the couples’ desires and must-haves, all vary from year to year. It is possible to operate on passion, talents and gifts, but in the end you will need more than that to sustain you.

I have taken part in several trainings such as “Larger than Life,” Lance Devereux with The Devereux Experience, WedPro through theknot.com, and more, traveling all over to learn the techniques from high-end designers and professionals to help perfect my craft. In return, I am able to train our staff the keys to executing a great event and setting our designs apart from others in the industry.
