NAWBO National Commends U.S. Senate Confirmation of Isabel Guzman to Head SBA

NAWBO National looks forward to continuing work with SBA on behalf of women business owners.

Washington, D.C. —The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) is pleased to congratulate Isabel Guzman on her confirmation by the United States Senate to lead the Small Business Administration (SBA) under the Biden Administration. She was confirmed by a bipartisan vote of 81-17.

"We congratulate Isabel Guzman on her confirmation to lead the SBA," said Cristina Morales Heaney, NAWBO National Board Chair. "Administrator Guzman's expertise will be critical during this time of economic uncertainty as we continue to work to get capital into the hands of women business owners across America. We look forward to working with her and her team as she leads the Small Business Administration."

"Before the pandemic, we would boast that women business owners represent the fastest growing economic sector in the country, employing 9.4 million and generating $1.6 trillion in revenue. However, according to our recent Gusto-NAWBO report, women business owners are struggling, especially those with school-aged children at home. We are excited that the SBA will have a leader at the helm to help address these concerns for women business owners," continued Ms. Heaney.

Isabel Casillas Guzman has over 20 years of experience in entrepreneurship. Ms. Guzman has expertise in public and private supply chains, capital markets, international trade, and strategic growth and operations. She is the former Deputy Chief of Staff at the U.S. Small Business Administration. She was part of the senior leadership team responsible for advancing the nation's small businesses through capital, contracting, and advisory services.
