Why Your Clients Won’t Buy From You | NAWBO

With all the tech language of open rates, ROI’s, click-through rates, and our general obsession with finding that one thing that makes our opt-in, landing, and sales pages convert, we get sucked into the dark vortex of digital marketing. Obsessing over technology is one of the main reasons your clients won’t buy from you.

Technology Crazy

Either we become frustrated watching what we perceive as someone else’s  successful digital launch (while ours tanked), or we ourselves become soulless hunters for the highest possible conversion and try to manipulate the numbers the best we can.

Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with sales. But what is wrong are all these crazy formulas that yet another internet marketer proclaims to be “what’s working NOW.” And it’s only to teach that one hack they found because they know there is a very short window of opportunity to gain as many followers as they can. That hack is rendered useless often within months or even weeks.

Digital marketing, email marketing, and all that good stuff have become very difficult. Most of it is not working anymore. And to top it off, most of us hate it anyway, which adds to the problem of talking sales.

Here’s The Story

Transformational experiences can be so emotional. I am secretly wiping away the tear that just came out of nowhere. Who knew that selling could be such an emotional experience? If you disagree, let’s look into why your clients won’t buy from you.

Setting The Stage

My private clients have access to me anytime so that when something goes haywire there is an option for them to get feedback and advice ASAP. When you need it, you need it now. The text lit up my phone with a timid, “Hey could you call when you have a moment?

All This Money Invested And She Blew The Sales Portion

This lovely client had spent countless hours and dollars to put together a wonderful Facebook challenge (Actually, she is responsible for giving me the idea for my upcoming $ales Made $imple challenge that you need to sign up for ASAP because we are starting August 1st). I was following her challenge and will admit that nobody makes you love yourself and your flawed body more than she. There’s just something about her. Women had transformational moments, supported each other, and shared unbelievable stories and powerful moments. All the while, I was rooting for her thinking THEY LOVE HER, she’ll nail the sales portion for her upcoming program.

The Text Said Otherwise

When we got on the phone she said, “I blew it. Because I couldn’t sell. The challenge was so real, so raw, so honest. I care about these women. I felt that my sales and closing script wasn’t right and I had internal resistance to selling my course. I made close to no sales. What in the world is going on with me?”

What Should We Do Instead?

My advice was simple. I suggested she come clean and tell them the truth. “Tell your tribe that you had it all drafted, but you couldn’t betray their trust and the bond you had made with a soulless closing presentation. That’s why it tanked, it wasn’t congruent with the experience.”

You see, when we realize that our prospects’ and clients’ lives and emotional well-being is tied to what we do, we recognize the responsibility we have and the power to achieve these transformations. We cannot take this lightly.

The lessons are simple:

  1. Don’t try to follow someone else’s formula, and
  2. Recognize that your integrity is on the line every single moment of the sales process
