NAWBO Launches Lapsed Member Outreach Program
Everyone knows that it’s easier to keep a customer than to get a new one. That’s why the next six weeks are so critical for NAWBO and our chapters. We are preparing to launch a Lapsed Member Outreach Program—a national communications effort and incentive that begins the week of October 19th and runs through November 30th.
During this period, women business owners whose NAWBO memberships have lapsed for six months or more will receive three e-blast communications highlighting the powerful tools and resources NAWBO offers to help them power their dream. It also gives them a special incentive—a $35 discount on their annual dues—to renew now. These communications will include such messaging as:
Life is busy and even important things—like renewing your NAWBO membership—can slip through the cracks. We understand…but we don’t want you to miss out.
It’s been said that you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone. Don’t let that happen with you and your NAWBO membership.
AND
Last chance: There’s still time to renew your NAWBO membership before November 30th, receive a $35 discount and regain access to the best connections, tools and resources to help you power your dream.
As chapter leaders and administrators, you play an important role in this outreach. Before the national program launches, consider getting together as a team to brainstorm ways to reach out to your local lapsed members and leverage your personal connection. Appoint someone to make calls to remind these members of the value of a NAWBO membership, including:
• Website at www.nawbo.org that is regularly updated with the most relevant news and insights for women business owners
• Ongoing e-communications with even more news and insights exclusively for NAWBO members
• Annual Women’s Business Conference (in Washington D.C. in June 2010) to connect with women business owners from around the country and the world
• Exclusive programs and discounts from NAWBO sponsors and affiliates
• A powerful advocate for political issues that impact women business owners
• Local chapter network for networking and support in your own community
• And more…
Also, consider sending a quick e-mail or note inviting them to a chapter event and reminding them of the incentive to renew now; announcing the incentive on your chapter Website; posting a status update about it on your social media page (Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.); and asking why they have yet to renew their membership—you’ll make them feel important and may even learn something that will help you improve your chapter for all members.

Together, let’s make a strategic effort in the upcoming weeks—doing a few small things that will make a big difference in keeping the “customers” we already have!
