Chapter-National Relations
Making the Connection for Your Members
As members of NAWBO, women business owners receive a unique combination of benefits that provide a unique membership experience. With regular networking and educational events at the chapter level, members have the opportunity to develop close relationships and discuss business issues as their needs evolve.
Being part of a national organization connects women business owners to an even larger community, allowing members to network with peers from across the country. NAWBO provides a broad perspective on trends and problems facing women entrepreneurs and members can apply this extended knowledge to their businesses and harness it for growth.
Open a discussion with your members about what membership in NAWBO—at both the chapter and national levels—means to them. If members are unsure about their connection to the national organization, brainstorm ways to bridge that gap. You can also offer these suggestions for getting more involved.
Join a Strategic Forum. Covering topics that NAWBO members are passionate about, these groups allow women business owners to enrich their own skills and knowledge, while working to educate their peers. Forum participation is open to all NAWBO members and offers a fantastic way to meet women from all areas of the country.
Attend a national event. Each year NAWBO members share their excitement from attending the Women’s Business Conference or Public Policy Days. They feel energized and motivated to take a risk in their business, make change in their community, or become a stronger advocate for an issue. More than anything, members look forward to the chance to network with other women business owners who have different perspectives and fresh ideas for success.
Write an article for NAWBOtime. All NAWBO members are invited to share strategies and advice in their particular area of expertise through an article in NAWBO’s print newsletter, NAWBOtime. Reaching out to 9,000 women business owners allows members to feel better connected to the entire NAWBO community. Even non-writers can make a contribution by suggesting a story idea or being interviewed for a profile.
There are many more ways to strengthen the NAWBO connection. Encourage your chapter members to find them and own their membership in NAWBO.
