(Washington, D.C.) – The National Association of Women Business Owners® (NAWBO®) today congratulated Sen. Barack Obama on his election as President of the United States and hailed his administration’s immediate efforts to help stabilize the U.S. economy.
“As the voice for the nation’s 10.4 million women business owners, NAWBO vows to work with President-elect Obama, his Administration and the new Congress to ensure issues vital to the health of the economy and the continued growth of women businesses are at the forefront of the nation’s priorities,” said Cynthia McClain-Hill, NAWBO’s president.
“We look forward to working with the Administration on helping to restore the nation’s economy as well as addressing other serious and pressing issues that are vital for women-owned businesses.”
NAWBO’s public policy platform is centered on support for pro-small business policies and legislation, including issues related to access to affordable health care, fair and equitable tax treatment for small business, and procurement opportunities for women-owned businesses.
As the fastest-growing segment of the market, women entrepreneurs are a growing national economic, social and political force that must be part of any sustainable recovery through job creation and revenue growth, McClain-Hill said.
“NAWBO has for more than three decades been an aggressive advocate for women business owners on national policy issues and will continue to be actively involved to ensure the voice of the nation’s women business owners is heard on Capitol Hill,” said McClain-Hill.
As the pre-eminent national women-owned business organization, NAWBO works to strengthen the wealth-creating capacity of women entrepreneurs, promote economic development, transform public policy, and propel women into economic, social, and political spheres of power worldwide.
