According to the Federation of International Trade Associations (FITA), "In only about fifty years Kuwait has gone from a poor nation of pearl divers and spice traders to one of the world's largest oil exporters, with a surplus in 2006 of US $18 billion."

Since ancient times, Kuwait has served as the gateway to the Middle East because of its geographical location. Through the discovery of oil, this nation of fishermen and traders has been transformed into a wealthy and economically strong nation. Kuwait Info spotlights its "state-of-the-art amenities, secure infrastructural facilities and technical excellence" as strong incentives for companies interested in doing business in the region.
