Dr. Terry Neese
Founder & CEO
IEEW

Dr. Terry Neese is founder and CEO of the Institute for Economic Empowerment of Women (IEEW). She leads the organization to accomplish its mission via two programs, both domestic and international training for women business owners in the area of public policy and entrepreneurial education. Founder of Terry Neese Personnel Services, and an inductee into the National and Oklahoma Women’s Hall of Fames, Terry is a past national president of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO®). A successful businesswoman, she made history in 1990 when she became the first woman nominated by a major political party for the seat of Lieutenant Governor of Oklahoma.

Yvonne Randle, Ph.D.

Management Systems

Yvonne Randle joined Management Systems in 1983 and served as a consultant to companies of all sizes—from entrepreneurships to members of the Fortune 500. Her expertise includes facilitating strategic planning, helping companies manage their corporate cultures, and assisting firms in developing effective organizational structures and performance management systems. She is also a skilled management development trainer and has served as a lecturer at the Anderson School at UCLA. Dr. Randle is the co-author of Growing Pains (4th Edition), The Inner Game of Management, Changing the Game: Managing Organizational Transformations of the First, Second, and Third Kinds, Leading Strategic Change, and Corporate Culture: The Ultimate Strategic Asset (April 2011).

Lamar Rutherford
Principal Consultant, Market Strategy
Silicon Berry LLC

Lamar has founded and operated two businesses, a bagel shop and yoga studios. She has also been on the management teams for three Internet start-ups, including CitySearch, helped launch a B2B software company and managed the sales and marketing for luxury, international real estate. She earned a CPA at Arthur Andersen, did her undergraduate at the University of Washington and MBA at the Tuck School at Dartmouth College. She currently teaches entrepreneurship for the Rady School of Management at the University of California, San Diego, and helps owners buy and sell their businesses as a First Choice Business Broker.

Kelly Scanlon

Thinking Bigger Business Media, Inc.

Kelly Scanlon is the owner and publisher of Thinking Bigger Business Media. She is currently the immediate past chair of the board of the National Association of Women Business Owners. An advocate for small business owners, especially women business owners, Kelly won the U.S. Small Business Administration's Region VII Women's Business Champion of the Year in 2009, and the Women in Business Advocate of the Year from the State of Kansas in 2006. In 2002, she won the SBA's Region VII Small Business Journalist of the Year Award.

Dr. Lisa Shaffer
Lecturer
UCSD Rady School of Management

Dr. Shaffer spent the first 25 years of her career in Washington, D.C. in a variety of positions focusing on international cooperation in studying the Earth from space. In 1998, she joined the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, where she was responsible for international relations and program development. In 2007, Dr. Shaffer joined the UCSD Office of Research Affairs to build a sustainability program across campus. She earned her B.A. in political science and international relations from the University of Michigan, a Ph.D. in public policy from the George Washington University and an MBA from the Rady School.

Candice is Citibank’s San Diego area director, managing more than 200 employees. In her 16 years with the company, she has also served as a sales director and branch manager. She has been in the financial services industry for 35 years. The native San Diegan is a graduate of San Diego State University and has received numerous banking and financial management awards and certifications.

Womenable is a for-profit social enterprise that works to enable women’s entrepreneurship worldwide by improving the systems— laws, policies, programs and research-based knowledge— that support women’s enterprise creation and growth. Prior to launching Womenable, Weeks served as Executive Director of the National Women’s Business Council, a federally-funded bipartisan policy advisory body, and was Deputy Chief Counsel for Statistics and Research at the U.S. Small Business Administration. She has also worked in the field of market research, including serving as Managing Director of the Center for Women’s Business Research.

Laura Yamanaka and her employees partner with small and midsize businesses to improve company performance and growth by providing quality financial accounting consulting services. Her customers’ know-how in collaboration with teamCFO’s financial expertise creates the synergy to achieve superior results. Laura is a past president of the Los Angeles Chapter of NAWBO. A long-time champion of financial literacy for women business owners, she has lectured on the subject to diverse audiences, including young girls who are aspiring businesswomen. Laura has been featured in Los Angeles Business Journal and the Los Angeles Times article “Nurturing Female Entrepreneurs.”

Lea Zanjani
Senior Vice President & Portfolio Manager, Business Banking Group
Union Bank

Lea manages a group of banking professionals responsible for supporting “managed” clients in the Business Banking portfolio. Prior to her current position, Lea was named Union Bank’s business banking regional vice president for three consecutive years. In addition to serving on numerous past boards of local San Diego business and charitable organizations, Lea currently serves on the board of directors for the San Diego Chapter of the Risk Management Association (RMA) and the Charles I. Cheneweth Foundation and is a member of the Loan Advisory Committee of the California Southern Small Business Development Corporation. Lea is a graduate of Harding University and Pacific Coast Banking School.
